Philipp Oettl made his world champion😼ship debut in Moto3 (2012) for the HP Moto Kalex team after competing in the final round of the year at Valencia. For 2013 Oettl secured a full-time switch to Paddock TT Motion Events, which then became the Tec Interwette๊n Moto3 Racing team, before a third and final name change saw the KTM outfit known as Interwetten Paddock Moto3. 

Still on KTM machinery, Oettl remained with the same team in 2014 before making a move to Schedl GP Racing. It was a switc🅠h that saw Oettl secure his best championship fin🎃ish up until that point (15th), while the German rider also scored his maiden podium in Indianapolis. 

Oettl remained with the team in 2016, however, it was a contrasting season for the now 25 ye🐓ar♕-old who failed to back-up his first podium of the season prior. But with that said, Oettl did improve his championship position to finish 12th. 

From a results standpoint, the next two seasons were his best as Oettl claimed a best result of second d🐽uring 𓄧the Austrian GP, while in 2018 he managed to win his first and only Moto3 race at Jerez. 

A disastrous 2ܫ019 season, one in which he failed to score points in any of the 16 races he competed in led to a move away from Moto3 and the grand prix pa🐻ddock altogether. Instead, Oettl joined Kawasaki in WorldSSP where results immediately picked up. 

Oettl claimed his first ꦍpodium in just race two of the season (again at Jerez) before taking another three rostrums in Aragon, Catalunya and Estoril. Oettl finished that season third behind another series rookie Andrea Locatelli who took the title for Yamaha. 

Although the 2021 campaign saw him lose two spots in the final championship standings, it was arguably a better season as Oettl had to conten🀅d with Yamaha producing a package that resulted in several riders combining for 20 out of 21 race wins, showing the Kawasaki to be a much less favoured machine. 

Seveꦺn podiums including six in the opening nine races led to significant WorldSBK ꦅinterest, particularly from Ducati who eventually signed him to replace Chaz Davies at the GoEleven Ducati team for 2022. This upcoming season will be his first in the premier class. 

Oettl finished the 2022 season in 13th place after scoring 85 points, and while big improvements will be needed in his second 🍃season, the German was comfortably quicker than fellow Ducati rookie Luca Bernardi, who instead lost his seat at Barni with three rounds to go. 🧸;
