German MotoGP: Marquez joins elite eight-in-a-row group

MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has joined an elite list of riders to have won eight premier-class races in𝓀 a row.

Only Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood, John Surtees and Mick Doohan have also won eight successive races, while the 𝓡last time a rider matched Marquez in winning the opening eight events was Agostini in 1971.

Agostini won the first ten races of the year in 1968, '69 and '70, while Doohan claimed 🌸ten in a row (but not the first ten) during the ꧂1997 season.

Marquez will have his shot at ni𒁃ne in a row at the Sachsenring in Germany on Sunday.
