Jake Dixon has stormed to h♉is second pole position of the year to start his Bennetts British Superbike Showdown on the front foot with championship leader Leon Haslam set to start from last place following a mechanical issue in qualifying.

The RAF Regular & Reserve💝 Kawasaki rider took full advantage of his title rival’s problem by dominating to pole position with a new outright lap record of 1m 33.758s ♑to beat nearest rival Tommy Bridewell by almost four-tenths of a second.

BSB championship leader Leon Haslam saw his qualifying ended almost immediately when he suffered a mechanical issue with his JG Speedfit Kawasaki after his first out lap in Q1. After making it back to the pits it was confirmed Haslam’s bike had sustained a broken cylinder in his ZX-10RR’s engine which ended his qualifying and means he’ll start from last place in 24th.

With the absence of Haslam, the drama continued in Q3 when Danny Buchan suffered a high-speed off at🌠 Island Bend which brought out a mid-session red flag. The FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider was able to walk ꦦunaided into the ambulance but was taken to the medical centre as a precaution.

Dixon held provisional pole following the opening runs before the red flag in the top n🅠ine shootout and went even quicker at the restart with a new outright lap record at Oulton Park. Moto Rapido Ducati’s Bridewell impressed in second with fellow BSB Showdown spoiler Luke ℱMossey completing the front row for JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

BSB Showdown ch🦂allenger Josh Brookes also improved on his final run in Q3 to put his McAMS Yamaha at the front of the second row ahead of fellow title contender Glenn Irwin on the Be Wiser Ducati.

Buildbase Suzuki’s Richard Cooper edged out team-mate Bradley Ray to take the🗹 final spot on the second row, with McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie having to settle for eighth on the grid ahead of Buchan to make up r💃ow three.

Andrew Irwin narrowly missed out on making it into Q3 for Be Wiser Ducati but will start 10th ahead of Honda’s Jason O’Halloran and final BSB Showdown contender Peter Hickman who suffered a mechanical issue with his Smiths Racing BMW midway through Q2 which saw him stuck in 12th place.
