Glenn Irwin has topped the🍌 opening free practice session at Brands Hatch aft🦋er seeing off a charge from both McAMS Yamaha riders Josh Brookes and Tarran Mackenzie.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider notched up an early f🌠astest la﷽p time of 1m 25.523s which remained unbeaten for the remainder of the morning session with teams focusing on set-up work switching from the tight and twisty Knockhill to the longer and flowing Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit layout.

Irwin’s top time came under threat from 2015 Bennetts British Superbike champion Brookes with his last-lap flyer moving him to just outside one-🌜tenth of the Be Wiser Ducati rider. Brookes’s time did displace teammate Mackenzie from an impressive sec🐽ond place but the BSB rookie held on to third ahead of Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha’s James Ellison.

Luke Mossey led the JG Speedfit Kawa💃saki charge in fifth, recovering from his rib injuries suffered last month at Snetterton, ahead of Tyco BMW’s Chrisitan Iddon with half a second splitting the top six.

Knockhill race one winner Jake Dixon had a solid start for RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki with seventh on the FP1 timesheet one-hundredth of a second ahead of Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW), with 🔯BSB championship leader Leon Haslam (JG Speedfit Kไawasaki) and Michael Laverty (Tyco BMW) rounding out the top ten.

Tommy Bridewell got off to a positive start on his Moto Rapido Ducati debut by taking 17th place at the end of FP1.
