Razgatlioglu made the perfect start as he moved past Rea and Rinaldi heading into turn one, however, an even faster starting Gerloff came from eighth but out-braked himself and💫 hit the Pata Yamaha rider - shades of the move he made on Rea at Aragon which resulted in the American crashing.
Gerloff was given a ride-throu🍰g♏h penalty on lap five, while championship leader Rea had to deploy recovery mode after losing several positions due to the lap one incident.
Rea made light wor♒k of Michael Van Der Mark, team-mate Alex Lowes, Scott Redding and Michael Ri💟naldi before hunting down surprise leader Andrea Locatelli. Unlike the riders Rea previously passed, closing the gap to Locatelli was proving tough as the Italian held a consistent pace.
But aꦿfter a valiant defence from Locatelli, Rea eventually closed the gap and took the lead with ten laps remaining.
Meanwhile, Gerloff’s miserable race ဣcontinued as he crashed out of the race on lap 14 (turn 9).
Locatelli started to struggle with rear grip during the final few laps as Redding closed in. The Ducati rider got ahead with tw🎉o laps to go.
After being demoted from third for exceeding track limits like in the Superpole race, Locatelli had no𝔍 such problems as he claimed third place 🍰- his first ever WorldSBK podium.
Tom Sꦛykes crashed late on after being embroiled in a four-way battle with Van Der Mark, Rinaldi and Lowes. Sykes came across the line 15th.
