The new Argentina round has been officially confirmed as part of the 2018 World Super✅bike calendar by the series organisers with the freshly-built El Villicum circuit given the green light to host its maiden event on October 12-14.

The new round in South America was provisionally pencilled into the 2018 calendar last year and will host the penultimate round of the season in mid-October after it received🃏 official confirmation from Dorna.

FIM, the San Juan government, OSD and World Superbike organiser Dorna confirm the Argentinean round w🌳ill go ahead following a meeting held between all parties last week. The new El Villicum circuit addition sees the 2018 World Superbike calendar consist of 13 rounds this season and no changes will be made to the provisional calendar.

“We are looking forward to the World Superbike Championship arriving in October for the first time,” Sergio Unac, San Jaun government official, said. “We are working hard to make this happen and it will be a fantastic boost for tourism in the area. Working with a long-term project in mind, we are building the El Villicum circuit to be one of the best venues for motor events iꦯn South America. We look forward to inviting you all to our province, and we will offer the best possible welcome.”

World Superbike Executive Director Daniel Carrera has outlined the key requirements ⛦the new El Villicum circuit needed to meet before being confirmed but is thrilled to make the announcement during the Aragon race weekend in Spain.

“We have a very challenging project in front of us due to the time frames, but after the meeting last week we have been able to design a plan which ensures that the essential facilities to run the event will be provid🍸ed aꦰt adequate levels next October,” Carrera said.

“El Villicum is set to be a referen♍ce circuit once 100% completed, and will be the perfect destination to host World Superbike, bearing in mind also the amazing location of the race track, in front of the Andes foothills and surrounded by vineyards.”
