Tanak, winner of the past three WRC events, misjudged a braking point on his opening shakedown run and c💞rashed off the course but with the help of spectators re-joined the action with minor damage to his Toyota.
But Tanak was unable to challenge the front-runners with his best lap leaving him down in 11th place.
Citroen's Craig Breen secured fifth🌞 place on the shakedown times ahead of WRC championship leader Thierry Neuville in sixth place for Hyundai ahead of Mads Ostberg (Citroen) and Esapekka Lappi (Toyota).
Rally Turkey rostrum-finisher Hayden Paddon slotted into ninth place for Hyundai ahead of teammate Andreas M🐠ikkelsen with Tanak just outside the top ten.
