Pr⭕omising Manx rider Billy Redmayne has died from injuries sustained in an accident at the Scarborough Spring Cup meeting on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was airlifted to Middlesbrough Hospital after sustaining critical head injuries in the feature race, whe🅠n it is understood he was struck from behind on the fastest part of the 2.43-mi♊le circuit at Oliver's Mount.

Redmayne, from Laxey, was a full-time memb♛er of the parachute regiment. He was transported by an Army helicopter to the James Cook University Hospital and placed on a ventilator.

The sad news was confirmed on Tuesday mor✱n🐲ing on Facebook by his girlfriend of two years, Hannah Wright.

Paying tribute to Billy, she said: '♋We were told that the damage to his brain was too severe f♈or him to ever wake up again. Even if we had waited for the swelling to go down, the damage was too bad.

'He also wasn't able to breathe for himself and was kept awake by machines. Myself and his family decided rᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚather than prol🃏ong the inevitable, we would turn off his life support machine and donate whatever organs we could.

'I am holding on to the fact that Billy died doing what he loved꧟, and that was the way he always wanted it.'

Billy won th𓂃e Newcomers Manx Grand Prix in 2014 and last year took victory in the Junior race to pave the way for his full Isle of Man TT debut this year.

Northern Ireland's Lee Johnston was inju🥃red in a crash in a separate incident but e𓃲scaped largely unscathed.
