Southern 100: Rider killed during practice is named

The competitor killed during practice for the Southern 100 road races on the Isle of Man yesterday ꧅evening has been named as David Jukes from Douglas on the island.
The accident happe🐷ned on the approach to Ballakeighan during the Supersport 600cc se♍ssion at around 7.15pm on the first night of the four-day race festival at the Billown course near Castletown.
M꧑r Dukes was 46.ꦐ He leaves behind a partner, Cath, and a young son, Simon.
A statement issued by the organisers said: "The Southern 100 MCRC, organisers of the Southern 100 International Road Races, regret to announce the death of David Jukes, from Douglas, Isle𒀰 of Man following an incident at Ballakaighan during the 600cc practice session.
"Southern 100 Racing extends its sincere condolences to families, relatives and friends at tꦇhis very sad time."
The ♔practice session was abandoned following the accident.
An investigation inis underway and the Coroner of Inquests on th🤡e Island has been informed.
Last night, an appeal was made to spectators who witnessed the acciden❀t to contact police at 🅷Port Erin Police Station on (01624) 631520.
Northern Ireland's Michael Dunlop had 🐻set the fastest time on his Honda TT Legends Superbike.
Final practice and the opening two races are due to take place on Tuesday even💮ing. The event concludes on Thursday with the main championship races.
