Joey, Ray And Rivals (and a little bit of road racing history)

'A glorious chapter in the history of road raci♔ng is brought to life in the new DVD Joey, Ray and Rivals (and a little bit of road racing history).

'The program🃏me is about motorcycle groups the Armoy Armada, led by Joey Dunlop, and the Dromara Destroyers, led by Ray McCullough, which raced in Ulster during the 196﷽0s and 1970s, and is probably the most comprehensive history of this legendary rivalry ever made.

'Created by Waldovision Ltd, the company that produced Joey Dunlop - No Ordinary Joe and programmes for BBC NI including Joey Dunlop-ꦆ Remembered, the DVD is being released by Duke on December 3.

'Presented by the BBC's Stephen Watson, the ඣDVD features interviews with all the Dromara Destroyer riders; Ray McCullough, Ian McGregor, Brian Reid and Trevor Steele.

'From the Armoy side, Joey Dunlop's brother Jim, Paul Robinson, son of Mervyn, Frank Kennedy's brother 🥂Bill, and Hugh and James O'Kane are interviewed.

'There are also contributions from William Dunlop, Guy Martin, Conor Cummins, John McGuinness, Steve Parrish and many more, including vꦚeteran Scottish rider Denis Gallagher.

'Joey, Ray and Rivals features many unpublished pict🏅ures from family albums and photographers who were close to the groups. Also included is footage of racing in the 1960s and 1970s which has never been seen on DVD before.

'Plus, there is a unique interview with McCullough recorded in 1979 in which he predicts Joey's๊ 💃first win at the North West 200.

'The 'little bit of road racing history' refers to a short history of racing in Ulster from the 1920s to the 1960s with amazing, previously unseen film of the Carrowdore 100, the Ulster Grand Prix , the North West🌠 20ꦉ0, the Cookstown 100 and the Temple 100.

'There are also new songs about McCullough and Reid written specially for the programme by Mike Kerry a꧟nd Throttle tꦕhe Men, plus a concluding song by Joe Reid.

'In addition, film maker Alwyn James explains how nearly 40 years ago he managed to achieve comprehensive race coverage, including filming from cameras mounted on 𓃲the bikes. D♏irector and Editor Anna Masefield said:

'"This is a story🐓 about the friendly rivalry between two very talented teams of riders who gave the sport some very memorable moments in the history of the great sport of motorcycle racing."

'Producer Colin James added: "I am delighted that so many top photographers have provided new material to ꩲillustrate this programme so the fans will see unique photographs which have been buried in an album since they were first taken."

'"If you were there, relive those glory days, and if 😼you are young, see what made racing so unique and exciting at that time."

'Waldovision and Duke have also confirmed a donation from each sale will go to the Dromara Fund for a tribute garden to rem𓆉ember✱ the Destroyers.

'Joey, Ray And Rivals (and a little bit of road racing history) will be available on DVD, priced at ?ꦚ19.99 or from leading retail outlets or direct from Duke Video: We are also pleased to be able to offer thisꦐ title as a Duke Download for just ?9.99.'
