Former NASCAR Busꦇch Series team co-owner Gary Jones has been sentenced to more than three yඣears in Federal US prison for embezzling more than $1 Million in order to finance his race team.

Jones, who a🍸long with Angela🐟 Harkness, co-owned Angela Motorsports, which competed in the Busch Series in 2002, starting just one race.

Jones was also the Vice President of a branch of the Wells Fargo Bank in his hometown of Austꦆin, Texas, where he illegally got finances for the team.

Having signed veteran driver Mike McLaughlin for the 2003 seasꦦon, the team folded days before the start of the campaign, leaving McLaughlin and crew chief Harold Holly out of work and many suppliers and team members unpaid.

On🌱 Friday, a Federal Judge in Texas sentenced Jones to three years and ten months in Federal Prison for stealing from his emplo🔴yer.

Harkness, who also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, is still wanted by the US law enforcement agencies and is believed to hav✨e left the United States.

In the team's only Busch Series starꦚt, the 2002 Fo♚rd 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway Jay Sauter and Kevin Lepage finished 25th and 37th respectively.
