Fabio di Giannantonio will return to Gresini in M𓆏ꦰoto2 next season, then make his MotoGP debut with the team in 2022.
That's according to , which r💫eports that the young Italian will be guaranteed a premier-class place during the second year of his Gresini contract.
Gresini is currently paired with Aprilia for its factory MotoGP entry, but the two parties may have their own grid places in 2022, when a෴ new commercial agreement begins between the teams and Dorna.
Should Aprilia join the other five manufacturers in having its own grid places, Gresini could then either become a satellite Apri🍌lia team or move to another manufacturer.
The Gresini team previously finished as 🍸MotoGP title runner-up with Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri, using Honda machinery.
However, MotoGP's general goal is for each manufacturer to support one satellite team an🐻d Honda is closely ali💯gned with LCR, while the only factories currently without a satellite entry are Aprilia and Suzuki.
There were already rumours of talks between di Giannantonio and Suzuki which, 🥂combined with the Gresini news, would suggest a Gresini Suzuki team is a possibility for 2022.
di Giannantonio, 21, spent his first four𓆉 grand prix seasons with Gresini in Moto3, winning two races and finishing title runner-up in 2018 before switching to Speed Up in the Moto2 class, where he has taken three podiums to da🧔te.
