The Monster Yamaha Tech 🗹3 rider was launched from his bike at turn one after oil leaked onto his 𓆉rear wheel, caused by a small piece of glass debris damaging an oil radiator.

Other riders had tried to warn Espargaro, b💃ut the intermittent smoke meant he didn't spot the damage.

Espargaro broke the second metatarsal bone in his left foot a🦩nd was ruled out of qualifying, but intends to return for Sunday's race.

"The bike was letting a small [amount of] oil on to the wheel but I did♈n't see it so I continued pushing - and it had the same power and everything - but at the end of the straight but when I braked some oil was starting to come onto the wheel," Espargaro said.

"We'll have♔ to forget [the injury] because tomorrow we have a race. Changing gear will be really difficult with the pain, but we'll see tomorrow what happens."
