Moto3: Quartararo eligible after 2015 rule change
Despite his age, Fabio Quartararo will be able to race in next year's Mot♐o3 World Championship - providing he win🃏s the Spanish CEV title.
The Frenchman is the most highly rated young star not yet in grand prix and, riding for the Emilio Alzamora-run Estrella Gali꧅cia 0.0 Junior Team, is set to follow in the💟 footsteps of Alex Marquez and Alex Rins.
However Q💙uartararo will not turn 16 until April 20.
That would prevent him from🅠 competing in the opening round🦄s of next year's Moto3 World Championship, as happened for Livio Loi in 2013. But a rule change by the Grand Prix Commission has all but cleared the way for a full season.
"The winner of the FIM CEV Moto3 Championship is permitted to compete in the Moto3 c♌lass of MotoGP in the following season, even if the rider had not reached the minimum age for the class. (Currently 16 years)," read the statement, which is sure to cause some controversy.
Quartararo, the dꦜefending CEV Moto3 champion, currently holds a 47-point lead in this year's standings with four rounds and a potential 100 points remaining.
