Hungary F3: Beckmann wins after double Viscaal penalty

David Beckmann claimed his first FIA Formula 3 victory of the 2020 season in a wet finale in Hungary after a double time penalty robbed Bent Viscaal of a maide𒅌n win.
Viscaal had finished♓ first on the road after a brilliant charge up the order but was slapped with a total 10-second 𝓰time penalty for two separate incidents which dramatically dropped him out of the points when the race ended behind the Safety Car.
Reverse-grid pole sitter Beckmann subsequently inherited the win having recovered from💞 his initial struggles early on, heading championship leader Oscar Piastri who finished second in his Prema.
The Trident driver crucially passed Dennis Hauger a few laps before the second Safety Car was deployed, having survived light contact at 𓄧Turn 1 to sweep around the ouꦏtside and grab second on the road.
Red🍒 Bull Formula 1 junior and one-time race Hauger secured his first F3 podium appearance in third for 🌱Hitech Grand Prix.
Prema’s Logan Sargeant was fourth ahead of MP Motorsport’s Richard Vischoor, while race one winner Theo Pourchaire was sixt✱h for ART Grand Prix.
Aleksandr Smolyar turned in a stunning recovery drive from 27th on the grid to take seventh, ahead of Sebastian Fernandez, Enzo Fittipaldi and Alex Peroni, who claimed the final point on offer in P10 ꦺfor Campos.
Despite his brilliant drive, Viscaal was ultimately dꦡemoted to 17th after his time penalties were applied post-race.
