Mick Schumacher closed in o𝕴n the FIA European Formula 3 tꦍitle last weekend by recording two victories and a second place finish at the Red Bull Ring, going 49 points clear in the standings ahead of next month’s season finale.

Schumacher, 19, managed to overturn incumbent leader Dan Ticktum’s points advantage in the opening round of the weekend, winning from pole position on Saturday before also securing pole for both of the Sunda൲y races.

Schumacher saw his points lead swell in the opening race on Sunday as he took a lights-to-flag victory and Ticktum crashed out, before finishing second in the closing race of the weekend behind Prema teammate Robert Shwartzꦚman.

With Red Bull junior T🎉icktum finishing fourth in the final race on Sunday, the gap between ꦺthe two title contenders heading into the season finale at Hockenheim on October 14 stands at 49 points with 75 still available.

Ferrari-backed youngster Marcus Armstrong is the only other driver still in coꦦntention for the championship, but is 69 points back from Schumacher in the standings.

The son of seven-time Formula 1 world𓄧 champion Michael Schumacher, Mick is now guaranteed to secure the top-three finish required for him to score enough qualifying points for an FIA Super License required t🍸o race in F1 from 2019.

However, a move into Formula 2 looks to be Schumacher’s most likely step for next year, with his existing team, Prema, also enjoying a presence ▨in that series.
