Seven-time world champion Hamilton will lead the field away from the grid for the second time this season after he pipped Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who will join him on th🦩e front row, to pole by just 0.036s.
Valtteri Bottas 🃏was a tent♕h adrift in the other Mercedes and will start from third, alongside Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc on the second row.
Alpine’s Esteban Oco🦩n once again starred in qualifying to claim a brilliant fifth place on the grid and split the🐠 Ferrari’s ahead of Carlos Sainz.
For just the second time this season, Da🎀niel Ricciardo got the better of teammate Lando Norris in qualifying as he toꦡok seventh, while Sergio Perez struggled with a shoulder issue as he ended up a disappointing eighth for Red Bull.
💧Norris will go from ninth, with Alpine’s F♐ernando Alonso completing the top-10 starters at his first home race since 2018.
At the other end of the grid, Haas rookie Nikita Mazepin starts last after once again setting the slowest time in qualifying. The Russian also received a three-place grid drop for blocking Norris in Q1, but the penalty has no effect on hiꦬs starting position.
The fourth 🦩round of the 2021 F1 season is due to begin at 1500 local time (14 BST).
