The 2021 British Grand Prix has been red-flagged after Max Verstappen suffered a huge accident following a collision with Formula 1 title rival Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap.

In a dramatic start to the race, Hamilton and Verstapඣpen came together at Copse as Hamilton attempted to take the lead w♌ith a late dive into the corner.

Hamilton had already seen attempts to pass Verstappen at Abbey and Brooklands rebuffed before 🍒he lunged down the inside at Copse having tucked into the Red Bull driver’s slips🎶tream.

With neither driver backing out into the high-speed corner, Hamilton’s front left tyre made contract with Vཧerstappen’s rear right, sending the championship leader hurtling into the barriers.

Verstappe✨n was winded in the high-impact with the barriers but wasꩲ able to walk away from his car, before being taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks.

The British GP was red-flagged following the incident so barrier repairs can be carried🙈 out, while the incident is under investigation.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner called Hamilton’s m🥃ove “desperate” a🌜nd “dirty driving”.

Charles Leclerc was leading the Brit൲ish GP from Hamilton and Valtteri♔ Bottas at the time the race was suspended.
