Juri Vips will act as reserve driver f𓄧or the ꧃Red Bull and AlphaTauri Formula 1 teams at this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix.

The 20-year-old Estonian has been awarded an FIA Super Licence following the completion of 300k𓂃m of running in an ꧃F1 car, meaning he is able to be on standby for the Red Bull-owned teams in a reserve driver capacity if required.

With Red Bull’s usual reserve driver Sergio Sette Camara facing clashing racing commitments this weekend, and fellow reserve S🐓ebastien Buemi contesting the final round of this year’s FIA World Enduraꦗnce Championship in Bahrain, Vips has been promoted for the 14th round of the 2020 F1 season.

He will be pres♛ent with Red Bull trackside for F1’s first visit to Istanbul Park in nine years and would be in line to make his F1 debut this weekend if one of Red Bull’s drivers had to pull out of the weekend.

Vips wou✨ld likely only drive for AlphaTauri if required as Red Bull’s current back-up plan in the event of a driver issue wo❀uld be to promote either Pierre Gasly or Daniil Kvyat to the senior team and use its reserve driver to fill the spare seat at AlphaTauri.

Vips was set to contest Super Formula this year with Team Mugen but his racing plans wer🎉e affected as he was prevented from taking up his seat by Japan’s travel restrictions amid the coronav🐈irus pandemic.

With Vips stuck in Europe, he instead acted as a replacement for injured DAMS driver Sean Gelael as he raced in three rounds of the 2020 Formula 2 season, as well a🐭s contesting three rounds of the Formula Regional European Championship.

Vips, who claimed a best result of third at Mugello during his brief F🎃2 cameo, was set to return from🥃 the Super Formula sidelines for the remainder of the campaign but those plans have now seemingly been abandoned.

His plans beyond this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix are unclear, with Gelꦇael set to return to F2 action for DAMS at the season-ending Bahrain double-header.
