Sebastian Vettel: P11 not a true reflection of pace at F1 Eifel GP

Sebastian Vettel believes 11th place wasn’t a true reflection o♏f his pace after another difficult Formula 1 race at the Eifel Grand Prix.
Vettel was running just outside of the points during the opening🎃 stages at the Nurburgring but lost control of his Ferrari into Turn 1 while trying 🐲to overtake the Alfa Romeo of Antonio Giovinazzi.
The spin proved costly for Vettel as it flat-spotted his front tyres and he wa🔯s forced to stop prematurely for harᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚd rubber.
The German’s early stop meant he was stuck iꦏn traffic and unable to make much progress, ultimately finishing his h🔯ome race in P11.
Reflecting on his afternoon, Vettel said: “I think in the race it’s always a little bit different, you have a lot more laps but f🌳rom where we were and with the day that I had, it wasn’t the easi൲est of races.
“I was stuck in traffic, also by my own fault and, therefore, it was difficult to make a lot of progress. I think we pro♌bably have a lot more pace than𝓰 where I finished, but today it wasn’t a good race for me.”
Teammate Charles Leclerc was unable to maintain his outstanding fourth place in qualifying, 😼classifying seventh come the chequered flag.
He cited graining as the main issue in the first stint while running on the soft tyr꧑es.
“I think what we mostly need to understand is the first stint, with the ꧑softs, as we were🌸 struggling quite a bit with graining and understeer,” Leclerc added. “The second and the third stint were a bit better, but the first stint compromised massively our race.
“I think🌼 yesterday was a bit of a stand out performance, so it was good for qualifying. On the one soft we’ve🐈 been strong, but on the long run we struggle a bit more, especially on the soft.”
