Sergio Perez has set his sights on returning to the podium and lifting Racing Point to fourth place in the constructors’ championship in 2020 – so💮mething he believes can be aided by the s🔯tability in the rules.

Racing Point finished fourth in 🧸the constructors’ championship in both 2016 and 2017 under its previous guise, Force India, with Perez scoring two podiums in that period as the team becameಞ F1's mighty midfield outfit.

But Racing Point slumped to seventh this year behind midfield rivals McLaren, Renault and Toro Rosso🐭, as it paid the price for the late-season change from Force India to its current form in 2018.

The team ended the season strongly, but Perez is confident more ground can be made up ahead of 2020, when he wants to get back to scoring podiums and running at the front of the midfielꦬd.

“We can improve a lot. There are great teams o𒊎ut there and everyone is going to improve, so for us 𓆉to catch up and improve, it will be difficult,” Perez said.

“I th🅰ink podiums and P4 i♏n the championship should be the target for us next year.”

Without any overhaul of the tꦚechnical regulations for 2020, Perez expects the field to converge more and there be finer margins of performance between the teams.

“In a way it brings the whole field closer when there is stabi♊lity in the rules,” Perez said.

“Generally, over 🍎the years we’ve seen that when there is little changing the field tends to be closer together.

“So I expect the grid to cﷺome together a bit more ne🗹xt year.”
