The Mexican ended up a lowꦰly 15th, while Stroll retired following a late collision with McLaren’s Lando Norris. Perez is hopeful Racing Point’s lack of competitiveness was a one-off and will not repeat itself in Monaco.
“We are a bit worried - I think our form in Spain was very bad,” Perez admitted.
“It was a lot worse than expected. So we’ll see. Here we hope it’s just track related and we just struggled in Spain as we were kind of expecting it to be.
“I hope coming here we can be competitive and back to our usual level. I thin🌳k all season we’ve been struggling for pace. I hope this weekend can🌱 be a good weekend for us where we can score plenty of points.”
Asked if the team has any answers for its lack of pac🍌e in Barcelona, Perez replied:
“None at the moment. 🌸We still analysing a few bits but we don’t have a specific answer for our poor performance there.”
Racing Point is expecting to introduce a new package in time for the German Grand Prix but Perez insists it is “very important” his side redisc🐷overs its form before then.
“There are a🦩 lot of races from now to Germ▨any,” he added. “Important to think race by race, now we have a big opportunity, the best thing we can do is maximise the opportunities.
“We know the midfield, after five races, we are fifth in the championship, so it’s down to maximising every single race and that wꦐill be key this weekend again.
“Go there and ma💖ximise chances and make sure you get the most out of𝄹 it and by doing that every weekend once you have a more competitive car it will be a bit easier.”
