Skip Barber regional 🦩and national championship stand-out John Edwards has been chosen as the winner of the 2004 Red Bull Dಞriver Search.

The 13-year-old got the nod after the final round of judged competition held at the Autodromo Fernanda Pires Da Silva circuit in Estoril, where he impressed the judges with his dedication and potential after two days of testing in an Alan Docking Racing prepared 💖Formula Three car.

The youngster madeꦺ racing history at Daytona International Speedway in January when, at the tender age of 12, he became the youngest person to win an open-wheel race while competing in the Skip Barber Southern Race Series.

Over the summer, he competed in the professional Skip Barber National Championship and finished seventh in the series, won by 1ꦰ7-year-old Marco Andreꦇtti, son of Michael.

Red Bull has yet to aꦡnnounce where it plans to run Edwards 𒆙in 2004. Of the 2003 winners, two went to race in Europe - Dominique Claessens and Colin Fleming both taking part in Formula Renault - while Matt Jaskol spent the season in Formula BMW in the US.

Ironically Jaskol was at Estoril himself over the past week🔥 testing with Alan Docking with a view to joining the team in 2005.

The Red Bull driver search was established in 2002 as a longꦰ term program designed to find and nurture young American driver⭕s, with the ultimate aim of helping them to reach Formula One.
