Pole sitter Josh Brookes has started race day as he means to go on by setting the pace in morning warm-up ahead of round two for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at ♈Oulton Park.
The Australian ri♏der has been in dominant form around the Cheshire circuit this weekend a💟nd begins race one later today from the top spot after going 0.7s quicker than his closest rival in qualifying.
With morning conditions throwing up a challenge thanks to a combination of overnight rain and diesel contamination – which forced the cancellation of several sessions prior to BSB warm-up – Brookes was more than 13secs off his pole time bu🐼t half a second clear of Christian Iddon in second.
Eager to bounce back from a dismal qualifying session on the Honda, Andrew Irwin was third quickest, ahead of Danny Buchan and front row starter Peter Hick🍸man.
Joint championship leader Tarran Mackenzie led the Yamaha charge in sixth, from James Ellison, Dan Linfoot, top Suzuki rider Bradley Ray and Matt Truelove, the latter – along with Scott Redding ❀– suffering a tumble in the tricky conditꩵions.
