The FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider currently sits seventh in the Bennetts British Superbike championship with a seven-point defici❀t to nearest rival Peter Hickman, while Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon sits eight points behind Buchan in eighth, as he targets a maiden Showdown berth༒.
Buchan dropped out🙈 of the top six pla💧ces following a poor run of results, with just a single eighth place finish from the past two rounds, coupled with Hickman’s recent resurgence triggered by his double podium at Thruxton.
But Buchan feels his experience under pressure having battled to two National Superstock 1000 titleಞs gives him a strong mindset to attack with at Sil🐼verstone.
“The goal is obviously to go to Silverstone and try and get into the Showdown, but I haven’t thought about it too much,” Buchan said. “I am going to play it smar♈t at Silverstone.
“I have been in this position before and I have had the pressure when I have been fighting for the title in Superstock where you have a really important race and I think I perfo🦩rm in those circumstances. I always say you either sink or swim and to me I am a swimmer.
“I have made this hard for myself or hard🥂er for the team but it🦹 is like anything in this championship – anything can happen.
“To be in the🌠 Showdown would mean a lot and would be a reward for the team and all the hard work they have put in, it shows that consistency pays off and it would be the biggest thing for my career so far.”
The BSB Silverstone round will be run on the National circuit layout f🧸ollowing safety concerns over th▨e resurfaced Grand Prix track which saw the cancellation of last month's British MotoGP.
