The operation had been planned for the end of the 2003 season. However after receiving the results of preliminary scans Young's surgeon has advised that he withdraw from the remaining races and that the oper🐽ation is done as soon as possible.

The operation is to remove a disc that has been compre🎃ssed and is pushing on the spinal cord. This will now be carried out on September 8th.

Young is devastated that his season will be cut ꦚshort but has decided that it would be wise to heed the doctor's warnings.

"I'm absolutely gutted that I'll not be riding," noted Young, "Usually I'm not very good at obeying doctors orders but this time I know it's for the best. This operation will put right somethiജng that has been hindering my training and racing for quite a while so I'm looking forward to getting it sorted and getting back to full fitness, ready for the 2004 season."

Young will still be in att🎉endance at the last three races of the year, to give his full s🍌upport to team-mate and young protege Jon Kirkham, and to give the team's sponsors and guests a first hand insight into the racing scene.
