Final qualifying for the second round of the MCE British Superbike Champཧionsജhip has been cancelled as a result of heavy rain at Thruxton.

The decisive session was scheduled to commence at 3.15pm but a series of delays were implemented to allow track inspections to be carried out by s༒eries dirꦜector Stuart Higgs and the final decision was finally announced shortly before 4.30pm.

Standing water on a fast section of the circuit ﷺf💟rom Village to Church was causing greatest concern.

Gri🍌d positions for Sunday's races will be determin🧸ed based on the combined times from the free practice sessions already held.

That leaves Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes on pole from rookie PJ Jacobsen on the Tyco Suzuki with Shane Byrne third on th🌊e Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki after the trio led the way in the dry se🦹cond free practice session.

Tyco Suzuki's J🐓osh Brookes completes the front row of the grid.

Higgs, who was joined by British Supersport champion Glen Richards during inspections of t🌳he course, told BSB Radio: "Norman Willia𒁃mson our MCRCB safety delegate and Adrian Johnstone our MCRCB chief steward and I have assessed the circuit.

"We are not in a position to resta💙rt so we haꦐve cancelled MCE BSB qualifying and the grid will be formed from the combined result from free practices, which will be interesting with Alex [Lowes] and PJ [Jacobsen] starting at P1 and P2.

"Glen [Richards] has worked♌ with us for some years as a representative of the riders so he's a good independent advocate to help assess the conditions.

"He and I are of a similar mind at the minute... it's n𒀰ot satisfactory for racing.

"When you're talking about speeds of 145mph from Village to Church through standing 🔯water and with the different lines riders take through there, it would be a very difficult situation if a rider was on the wrong side of the track with water that hasn't dispersed," he added.

"The marshals h🌌ave worked hard and done a great꧅ job but it's not satisfactory at the moment."

A further decision at 4.𝓀55pm was taken to cancel all further track action, resulting in the p♑ostponement of races including the opening British Supersport event, which had been initially scheduled for a 4.25pm start.
